“Those left in the shade often grow unnoticed, until the time comes for them to rise up on their own.” Those words of wisdom always spring to mind when talking about the Beaufort Bar, The Savoy’s stunningly opulent little hideaway that lives in the perpetual shadow of the hotel’s more popular American bar.
Despite its lesser status, the Beaufort Bar is arguably the better of the two, if they can be compared. Its inventive and decadent cocktail menu is a hand illustrated masterpiece, full of sensational drawings and even better drinks. Tease your tastebuds with a mixture of classic and esoteric ingredients combined in mixtures that range from subtle to spectacular. One of them involves gold dust and a scoop of unfurling lemon sorbet!
Bar snacks are complimentary and varied, staff are incredibly friendly and you couldn’t ask for a better venue. There really is no better place to enjoy the extravagance of London life than in this gilt monument to shadows.
If it all sounds too good to be true, consider the prices. Most drinks start at £12 a glass, with the more spectacular offerings going all the way up to £30 and £50. There’s even barrel aged cocktails for an eye watering £200 a pop!
