Gordon’s Wine Bar
Set in the atmospheric confines of an old wine cellar, Gordon’s has quickly become one of the city’s most recognisable bars. Nothing quite beats the effortless cool of bare brick and untreated wood, which simultaneously creates a blend of rustic and chic aesthetics. It’s the perfect spot for unwinding after a hard day at the office, or for enjoying a casual glass of white on a hot summer weekend. The area can get a little drafty in winter, so don’t forget a jumper!
A real staple with the banking community, Gordon’s developed something of a reputation recently, and is now renowned as the place to go when you want to impress a date. This generally leads to busy weeknights packed full of those in their 20’s and 30’s, but the weekends see a little more mature crowd. Regardless, it’s always extremely busy so pre-booking is advised for those that have their hearts set on this romantic hotspot.
Drinks are classic but well made, ranging from a standard martini to some slightly more inventive cocktails. Those seeking outlandish displays of creativity should look elsewhere, but if you’re more tradition then Gordons is sure to impress. As the name would suggest, their wine selection is both excellent and varied.
